No one can deny that Luis Suárez and Neymar have delivered the goods since Leo Messi was sidelined.
Barcelona have played the last five La Liga games without the Argentine and the remaining members of the MSN have bagged 13 goals between them, with the Uruguayan notching seven times and the Brazilian six. The upshot is that Neymar currently leads the league’s scoring charts, on nine goals overall, while the former Liverpool man is just one behind.
An unfortunate defeat at the Sánchez Pizjuán has been Barça’s only blip of note without Messi. The team and their striking duo got the job done once more in impressive fashion against Getafe, with Sergi Roberto supplying a spot of magic with his two assists.
Even without Messi in the fray, Suárez and Neymar complement each other perfectly thanks to their different personalities and skill sets. As Suárez put it on Saturday night, “Everyone here knows what their role is. I’m not going to dribble past three or four players – that’s Neymar’s thing”.
