Carles Puyol was taking some time out to decide his professional future. And finally it sems he’s decided on involvement in an agency of player representation, an adventure that has started with a top level player – Marc Bartra.
The Barcelona centre back joins the project headed by Ramon Sostres, who was a former agent of Puyol during his time as a player, and Ivan de la Pena, who for years maintained a close friendship with the Catalan ex-captain. Puyol is convinced he has found his place in the football world away from the pitch. He had been pondering what to do, after his brief experience in sports management with Andoni Zubizarreta.
The former captain did not like Zubizarreta being sacked and was not comfortable so he resigned. After that he spent some weeks in New York, learning English and studying. Finally he has opted to join the world of player representation.
Puyol knows the Barcelona squad perfectly, including Bartra, who has referred to him as a key example to follow at the club.
