Game after game, Neymar Jr and Luis Suárez are delivering the goods. They just can’t stop scoring, and against Villarreal on Sunday at 4.00pm CET, they will have the chance to extend on their remarkable return of 23 goals between them this season.
And the duo have hit on goalscoring form just when it matters most, with Leo Messi out of action through injury. In nine games without the Argentinian to complete the famous ‘trident’, Neymar and Suárez have scored 20 goals in total, and an average of 2.2 a match.
Goal getters
The Brazilian is now into his third season at the Camp Nou and is delighted to have hit on such amazing form. In 13 games played to date, he’s scored 11 times. He’s off the mark in the Champions League after getting two against BATE Borisov midweek, while he’s the overall top scorer in La Liga with nine.
Luis Suárez is one ahead of his strike partner with twelve goals in total (eight in La Liga, three in the Champions League and another in the European Super Cup). With 1,470 minutes in 16 outings so far, the Uruguayan has been used by Luis Enrique more than any other member of the squad.
Goals | Assists | Total shots | Shots on target |
Games | Minutes | |

Suárez | 16 | 5 | 58 | 27 | 16 | 1.470 |
Playing for each other
With Messi currently out of the picture, the deadly duo have taken it upon themselves to lead the Barça attack. Neymar has had 60 shots, 24 of which have been on target, while Suárez is just two behind with 58 shots, although more of his, 27, have been between the posts. But neither player could ever be accused of being selfish. One or other of the pair is almost always involved in attacking moves in some way, and both can also feel proud of the number of goal assists that they have delivered. In that department, Neymar Jr has six so far this season, and Suárez has five
