Barcelona youngster Sergi Samper spurned the chance to sign for Arsenal back in 2011 and now regrets his decision to stay with the Catalan club.
The gifted midfielder has been compared with Cesc Fabregas and is widely acknowledged as one of the most promising youngsters coming out of the fabled La Masia youth system.
El Confidencial state that Samper could have joined the Gunners in 2011 at the same time as Hector Bellerin and Jon Toral, but decided to stay at Camp Nou.
Fast forward four years and the midfielder’s route to the Barcelona first team has been blocked, with a potential loan move elsewhere on the cards this summer.
The report claims that Samper’s father has contact Arsene Wenger again this summer over a potential switch to the Emirates Stadium, but the French coach is no longer interested in Samper.
The gifted starlet has the likes of Andres Iniesta, Ivan Rakitic and Sergio Busquets ahead of him in the pecking order at Camp Nou and is expected to feature in the Catalan outfit’s B side if he cannot secure a loan move this summer.
