Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto has been ruled out for up to ten days due to an injury.
The reigning Spanish and European champions have endured numerous injuries to their key personnel this season and are still without Lionel Messi, Rafinha Alcantara and Andres Iniesta.
Roberto has now been added to the list of the injured after he had to be substituted in Tuesday night’s Champions League fixture against BATE Borisov.
A statement released by the club’s website confirmed the injury to the midfielder.
“Tests on Wednesday morning reveal that first team player Sergi Roberto has pulled an adductor tendon in his left groin”, it read.
“He is expected to be out of action for seven to ten days.”
Roberto had become a key member of the first team due to injuries to first team regulars and now manager Luis Enrique will be forced to look into the Barcelona B squad to add to his midfield options ahead of Sunday’s league game against Eibar.
Barcelona registered a 2-0 win over BATE Borisov on Tuesday and are top of their Champions League group ahead of second placed Bayer Leverkusen.
