Douglas will be out for eight weeks with a foot injury.
The Barcelona star appeared to injure his right foot in the second minute of the team’s Copa del Rey round of 32 first leg clash with Villanovense but was told to stay on the pitch.
He played the full 90 minutes but now is set to miss the upcoming two months.
Barcelona published a communication reading: “The tests taken on Thursday show that first team footballer Douglas has a crack in the scaphoid of his right foot. He will be out for eight weeks.”
Douglas, since he signed for Barcelona, has sustained several injuries. In pre-season he suffered a femoral fracture in the right leg in the third game, a 2-2 draw with Chelsea. He had to go off after 17 minutes and was out for two months.
The Brazilian played his first few minutes of the season in an official game against Rayo Vallecano on October 17, coming on for Dani Alves in the 78th minute of a 5-2 win.
He will be out for the rest of 2015, and will therefore not feature at the Club World Cup.
