The Mitsuzawa Stadium, located in the park carrying the same name, has a capacity of 5,000 and is serving as Barcelona’s training base in Japan at the moment. Over the lastt two days, Barça have been training on this pitch in Yokohama, three kilometres from their hotel. The first session was a light one, with the media allowed in to watch. The second session, though, was not open.
Well, the first 15 minutes were open, but the media were then sent to a cabin to wait for Jordi Alba, the player chosen to speak to journalists. To make sure that Luis Enrique’s session was totally secret – as is easy to do at the Ciutat Esportiva – and to avoid cameras, the club put up a huge blue canvas to separate the team from the media.
Therefore, Luis Enrique could give his session safe in the knowledge his words and instructions would not be taken out of context or end up in the wrong hands. Evidentally, Luis Enrique does not share Johan Cruyff’s opinion that it was effective to always do open training sessions so that the players would feel bad if they comitted an error.
