Things can change, but from today, 11 Barelona players can celebrate reaching Euro 2016. The bulk of them come from Vicente del Bosque’s Spain squad, unsurprisingly.
Gerard Pique, Jordi Alba, Marc Bartra and Aleix Vidal from the defence, plus Sergio Busquets and Andres Iniesta in midfield.
Belgium are there, which means if Thomas Vermaelen stays injury-free he will be at the tournament.
The case of Jeremy Mathieu is different. Didier Deschamps has called the Frenchman up on various occasions, but not since October last year. He will need to impress this season if he is to get a spot in the France squad and compete in his first European Championship.
For his part, German goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen will have to compete with Bernd Leno, of Bayer Leverkusen, to be the reserve for Manuel Neuer – the current first choice of Joachim Low.
Arda Turan will star for Turkey, while Ivan Rakitic will be a key figure for Croatia.
Barcelona team for Euro 2016: Ter Stegen; Bartra, Vermaelen, Pique, Mathieu; Vidal, Busquets, Rakitic, Iniesta, Alba; Arda Turan.
