In addition to the former blaugrana Robert Fernández which will be the first team’s new technical secretary, six new directors have been named.
In the ordinary meeting, the Board of Directors wish to express its gratitude to the Management Committee for their hard work during the past weeks as recorded in the minutes of the meeting.
They are happy reflecting the success for the elections day, and thank the members for the high turnout and the pre-candidates and candidates for their efforts during the process.
In the meeting the different responsibilities for the members of the Board of Directors were agreed on.
The make-up of the Board of Directors shows some structural changes to the previous mandate. Jordi Cardoner, who had been second vice president, now fulfills the role of first vice president; Manel Arroyo, who in the previous mandate had occupied the position of vice president of the Area of Media and Communications, now assumes the role of vice president of the Area of Marketing and Communication, taking responsibility for commercial matters and for sponsorship; Susana Monje, treasurer in the previous mandate, occupies the position of vice president of Finance and Jordi Moix assumes a special role concerning Espai Barça.
In today’s meeting, the positions of vice presidents were assigned as well as those of secretary, treasurer and commissioner for Espai Barça. The rest of the positions are as Board Members.
The new incorporations are:
Jordi Calsamiglia (Barcelona, 19 June 1959). Secretary. Member number 79,563.
Lawyer and partner in the firm Bufet Calsamiglia. Calsamiglia was a member of the Social Commission and the Disciplinary Commission and also in the Commission for Statute Reform.
Also brought in as treasurer, vice secretary and board members:
Enrique Tombas (Barcelona, 20 October 1967). Treasurer. Member number 16,479.
Graduate in Administration and Business Management at ESADE. MBA Executive from ESADE and a Masters in International Management from Thunderbird University (Phoenix, Arizona) and PDG at the IESE Busness School. Tombas was a member of the FC Barcelona Social Commission.
Maria Teixidor (Barcelona, 8 October 1975). Vice secretary. Member number 47,166.
Graduate in Law from the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. Higher degree in Mediation from the Rey Juan Carlos University and Workshop in Mediation and Intellectual Property from the Centre for Arbitration and Mediation OMPI in Geneva.
Emili Rousaud (Barcelona, 27 April 1966). Board member. Member number 35,566.
Graduate in Business Science and MBA from ESADE, graduate in Business Management and Administration from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and a Masters in Tax Assessment and Management from ESADE.
Oriol Tomàs (Barcelona, 23 January 1970). Member. Member number 62,046.
Graduate in Economics from the University of Barcelona and Masters in Business Management from IESE
Xavier Vilajoana (Barcelona, 2 de gener de 1973). Member. Member number 35.916.
Industrial engineer, graduate in Business Management and Administration, in Humanities and PDG from IESE. Linked to the Club as a player in the youth system up to Barça C (1992-1996) and as a first team player in Futsal (1998-2002). Member of the Sporting Commission between the years 2003 and 2005, and between 2010 and 2015.
Sporting appointments
The first decisions of the Board have been in the sporting area, more particularly in the area of football. The Board of Directors have agreed on the appointment of Robert Fernández as the new technical secretary of the football first team and of Josep Segura as the new technical secretary of professional youth football.
Both roles are new ones: Robert Fernández’s position is specifically linked to the first team and Josep Segura’s position is focused on the final phase of youth football at the Club, Barça B and the U19 A and B teams.
Robert Fernández (Betxí, Castelló, 5 July 1962) was a member of the FC Barcelona first team between 1986 and 1990. He played 196 matches in a Barça shirt and won three trophies in that time: two Copas del Rey (1998 and 1990) and a European Cup Winners Cup (1989). He also played for Castellón (1979-81), Valencia (1981-86 and 1990-95), Villarreal (1995-99) and Córdoba (1999-2001). He has been coach of Valencia B (2004-05), Córdoba (2005-06), Oriola (2006-07) and Alzira (2008-09).
Josep Segura (Olesa de Montserrat, 19 March 1957) is a PE teacher with a speciality in football and was a member of the FC Barcelona coaching staff between 1997 and 2006. He was assistant coach to Llorenç Serra Ferrer at AEK Athens in 2006/07, coach of Olympiacos in 2008 with whom he won the league and the cup. He was also Technical Director of the Liverpool FC Academy between 2009 and 2012.
The Board of Directors have also named Ariedo Braida in charge of international scouting for the Club and Carles Rexach in charge of national scouting. Braida and Rexach will report to Albert Soler, director of Professional Sports.
