Luis Enrique spoke to the press ahead of Saturday’s league match againstGetafe in Week 10 of La Liga. The FC Barcelona manager acknowledged the opponents’ good defensive organisation as well as the traditional difficulties of playing at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez.
The team from Madrid made an unconvincing start to the campaign but have since won three home games on the bounce without conceding any goals. “Statistics are there to be broken, but they reflect the level of difficulty we are up against,” said Luis Enrique regarding Getafe’s recent good form.
Ahead of the game, Barça were boosted by the return of Andrés Iniesta and Sergi Roberto to the squad, and the manager stated that “if they are in the squad then they could start.”
Luis Enrique was also asked several questions about the upcoming Clasico on 21 November. The Asturian denied the significance of going into the big game against Real Madrid ahead or behind on points, affirming that “I am only interested in being champion. Entering the Clasico with three points more than Real Madrid or three points less to me is irrelevant”.
In front of goal
“We have improved in front of goal in recent weeks and we continue to create plenty of chances. It is something that we are not worried about.”
“I would be delighted for Munir or Sandro to score, but we are not worried about it. I believe that for them it is important to gain minutes in order to develop and, even if they have not scored, they have been involved in the goals.”
