Sandro scored a hat-trick and Munir grabbed two as Barcelona eased into the last 16 of the Copa del Rey with a 6-1 win over Villanovense on Wednesday.
Neither player had scored this season going into the match, so Luis Enrique will have been relieved to see his young forwards open their accounts for the campaign.
It was Dani Alves, though, who opened the scoring from 30-yards, before Sandro doubled Barça’s lead following a mistake by Jose Fuentes.
Juan Guarnido temporarily reduced the deficit with a lovely finish from outside the area, but two more Sandro goals and a Munir brace confirmed the La Liga side’s superiority.
Having drawn the first leg 0-0, Luis Enrique didn’t want to take too many risks – Lionel Messi was among the players left out of the squad, but Neymar and Luis Suarez were included.
However, neither were needed – in fact neither even warmed up – as a Barça side led by Javier Mascherano and Alves comfortably saw off their third-tier opposition.
There were less than five minutes on the clock when the visiting side’s resistance was broken.
Alves was given acres of space to gallop into, although he took aim instead – and to great effect.
His shot was too good for Fuentes, who got a hand to it but couldn’t prevent the net rippling.
If it was debatable whether he should have kept it out, there were no debates concerning the second goal.
Fuentes passed the ball straight to Sandro, who had no problem sending it back past him.
A superb Juanfran strike from 20 yards then sent the 3,000 travelling fans wild, but their joy was short lived – Sandro collecting an Aitor Cantalapiedra pass at the other end and stabbing home.
Three more goals followed after the break, the first a smart header from Munir following a decent delivery from left-back Jeremy Mathieu.
Sandro was then able to complete his hat-trick after good work from Sergi Samper, before he then turned creator, producing a stunning back-heel to set up Munir’s second of the night.
The game ended on a sour note, though, with Mathieu leaving the pitch injured for the final 10 minutes.
However, Luis Enrique opted not to bring on Neymar, Suarez or Andres Iniesta and Barça played out the game with a man less.
