Catalan newspaper Sport report on Friday that Barcelona will sell Adama Traore to Liverpool for as little as €10m. On Thursday reports in Spain said that Liverpool had sent a representative to Spain to negotiate a deal for the player. Those claims said that Liverpool would likely have to pay the player’s release clause of €15m, because Barcelona were reluctant to sell and would prefer to loan the youngster out.
Things have changed quickly. Sport say that Barcelona are now prepared to let Adama Traore leave on a permanent deal and will do so for €10m, it’s a fixed price and Liverpool simply have to give the nod, and of course the money, for a deal to be done.
Barcelona would prefer a buyback clause for the first two years of the player’s contract elsewhere, similar to what they have with Gerard Deulofeu at Everton, but it isn’t thought that could be a deal breaker. Things won’t be rushed and it’s considered important that the footballer finds the best club to develop his talent.
Adama Traore can play on either wing, is 19 years old, and has a contract with Barcelona until June 2018. No clubs other than Liverpool are mentioned by Sport in their article on Friday. Sport say the price is fixed for Liverpool at €10m, with Barcelona agreeing they’ll do a deal at that price.
