With the Barcelona presidential election just around the corner, Joan Laporta continues to fight his corner and has revealed that Paul Pogba would be his top transfer target.
The 53-year-old was club chief between 2003 and 2010 but faces competition from current president Josep Maria Bartomeu for a return.
The lure of the bringing the France international to the Nou Camp could help his cause but even if elected, Barca still face competition from Europe’s elite for the highly-coveted midfielder.
‘There is a player we like very much – Paul Pogba,’ Laporta told BBC Sport.
‘We know the agent of the player – that is key in this operation. We will have to negotiate with the agent and Juve.’
Laporta and Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola are known to be close and that would be key to any deal being agreed.
Manchester City, Real Madrid and PSG are also keen on the 22-year-old but Barca remain the favourites for his signature.
