The draw for the last 16 of the Copa del Rey, which took place on Friday at the Ciudad del Futbol in Las Rozas (Madrid) has thrown up a Catalan derby: FC Barcelona against RCD Espanyol.
The first game will be played at Camp Nou on January 5 or 6, which will be the first time Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal – the two players signed in the summer but unable to play due to FIFA’s registration ban on the Barça – will be able to play in.
Therefore, in the month of January, there will be three derby matches. As well as the two Copa matches – the Espanyol leg is likely to be around January 12 pending confirmation – there is also the league meeting between the two Barcelona-based sides on January 2 (16.00h) at Cornella-El Prat.
Here’s the full Copa del Rey draw:
FC Barcelona-RCD Espanyol
Valencia-Granada
Mirandes-Deportivo
Cadiz-Celta Vigo
Real Betis-Sevilla
Athletic-Villarreal
Eibar-Las Palmas
Rayo Vallecano-Atletico Madrid
The first legs will be played on January 5 or 6 and the second legs on January 12 or 13. The draw for the quarter-finals will take place on January 15.
