Ivan Rakitic admits Rayo Vallecano gave Barcelona a tough game, but he feels his side did deserve to grab the three points.
Neymar scored four and made the other in a 5-2 win, although that doesn’t tell the whole story of the match.
Rayo had taken an early lead and for large parts of the second half, with Barça leading 2-1, they took the game to their hosts.
“We worked well after going behind, we didn’t abandon our ideas and it’s a deserved victory,” Rakitic said.
“We have to continue now because important games are coming up.
“Rayo didn’t surprise us. They worked well. Their idea of play is well known and you have to congratulate their manager.
“It was a tough game, an equal game, but in the important situations our quality decided it. To score five goals at home is important.”
For the star of the show, Neymar, Rakitic urged him to carry on scoring and producing performances like he did at Camp Nou on Saturday evening.
“I hope Neymar doesn’t stop,” the Croatian midfielder added.
“I hope that he continues like this and that he signs many more balls. Hopefully he repeats [the four goals] as soon as possible.”
